Jason Hornberger - Assistant Vice Provost for Shared Service Centers
Jason Hornberger has been at the University of Kansas for over 10 years, previously serving in the Office of the Provost. As the Assistant Vice Provost for Shared Service Centers, Jason ensures Shared Service Centers fulfill service level commitments. He receives frequent status updates from Deans, Directors, Chairs and SSC Directors. Jason also works closely with the Shared Services Advisory Boards which meet quarterly to evaluate how well each of the Shared Service Centers are meeting their commitments to the departments and units that they work for, and to quickly address any lapses in service. Jason is dedicated to ensuring all campus units served by the Shared Service Centers are satisfied.
Amy Carlson - Pharmacy & Biomedical Research SSC Director
Amy Carlson has 20 years of experience in higher education, including 6 years at the University of Kansas, where she previously worked as the Manager of Post Award Services at the Higuchi Biosciences Center.
As Director of the Pharmacy and Biomedical Research Shared Services Center, Amy is responsible for cultivating an environment of outstanding customer service and accountability to the units served. She is dedicated to providing a collaborative environment, growth opportunities for staff, and effective working relationships with units across the University.
Michelle Ginavan Hayes - Engineering, Technology & Environment SSC Director
Michelle Ginavan Hayes began her career at the University of Kansas in 1998. For 15 years, Michelle worked in central research administration at the KU Center for Research, working to support the research mission of the University. Michelle then moved to the College & Professional Schools Shared Service Center to serve as the Research Manager. Michelle now serves as Director of the Engineering, Technology & Environment Shared Service Center. As director, Michelle will apply all of her experience and knowledge to directly support the needs of research centers, departments and other units housed within the ETE SSC. Michelle will help cultivate an environment of customer service and professional development with her staff and the units they serve. Michelle also serves as a member of the ETE SSC Advisory Board, and works to provide support and oversight, as well as work to establish best practices and process improvement and maintain a positive culture to support the research, teaching, and service endeavors at the University of Kansas.
Pat Kuester - Education, Social & Biobehavioral SSC Director
Pat Kuester has over 20 years of experience in administration and finance, including 6 years at the University of Kansas, where she previously worked as the Director of Finance and Planning at the Law School. As the Director of the Education, Social & Biobehavioral Shared Service Center, Pat is responsible for cultivating an environment of customer service and providing customized support to the departments served. She is committed to providing strong leadership, continuous process improvement, staff development, and fostering effective and robust partnerships between the ESB SSC and the departments served.
Jody Milford - Campus Administration & Operations SSC Director
Jody Milford is a KU graduate who began working for the University in 2004. She’s held positions in Graduate School & International Programs, Research & Graduate Studies, Human Resources, and the Shared Service Centers. Jody’s KU background includes supporting both administrative and academic departments in Finance-, HR-, and Research-related contexts which provides broad insight into the issues faced by the KU community and the SSCs. Her most recent role as SSC HR Manager provided oversight for the College & Professional Schools SSC HR staff and quality assurance for departments as they transitioned into the SSC.
As the Director of the Campus Administration & Operations Shared Service Center, Jody is responsible for cultivating an environment of outstanding customer service and accountability to the units served. She has a particular interest in process improvement, providing opportunities for professional development for staff, and ensuring a high level of service for the units served by the CAO SSC.
Karla Williams - College & Professional Schools SSC Director
Karla Williams has worked at the University of Kansas for over 20 years, previously working as the Director of Financial Operations and Human Resources in the School of Business. As the Director in the College & Professional Schools Shared Service Center, Karla is responsible for cultivating an environment of customer service and providing customized support to the units served. Karla serves as a member of the College & Professional Schools Shared Services Advisory Board, which meets quarterly to evaluate how well the Shared Service Center is meeting its commitments to departments and units, and to quickly address any lapses in service. Karla maintains close connections to the Deans, Directors and Chairs of the units her Shared Service Center serves.
Karla is also committed to the growth and development of her staff and works closely with the central departments to improve policy and coordinate training.
